Description of Research Interests
1. Gene regulatory mechanisms in Gram-negative bacteria of medical importance, with an emphasis on the roles of nucleoid-associated proteins and DNA topology in controlling transcription and site-specific recombination. 2. Horizontal transfer of gene regulatory elements and the evolution of gene control networks. 3. The dissection and interpretation of complex gene regulatory circuits using genomics methods. 4. Modulation of gene expression patterns in pathogenic bacteria during infection and intracellular growth.
